Increasingly over the past few weeks, the Obama supporters seem to be
painting him as the Messiah of our generation. The constant
references to JFK and MLK are like New Testament allusions to Abraham
and Moses.
These cries of "our time", "the time is now" and many others seem to
indicate some sense of historical invevitability- as if Obama can't
lose because some unseen hand(God?) is pushing him towards victory.
As a lifelong Democrat, and a voter who has never found the
Democratic party to be liberal enough, I questioned my own reasons
for supporting Hillary. Something bothered me about the Obama
rhetoric, but I couldn't quite identify the issue.
Now, I have come to my conclusion- Obama's campaign has become a
parade of cleverly crafted buzz words like "Change". There is no
substance behind these words, there are no realistic plans for the
future, and the ideas that have been offered are only vaguely
different from Clinton's. Yet, this tide of support keeps flowing
forward without facts, critical thought, or analysis.
I have news for the Obama nation; Obama is not JFK or MLK. He isn't
going to bring this revolutionary "change"(heaven?) that you dream
about.- and if you don't abandon this parade of invevitablility,
McCain will be the next President.
