and go visit the four-year old Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport; there are free shuttle busses to and from the airport to the museum; many folks plan two- or more-leg travel thru Dulles, just to spend a couple hours at this great museum
- they've got the Enola Gay, the SR-71 spy plane, old Constellation, the Enterprise space shuttle, the Langley "aerodrome" that you've seen in those old 1903 movies (the guy whose craft plunged off a bridge as he tried to fly it), and lots of really neat stuff; lots of stuff for kids as well: simulators, a "tower" that simulates some of what goes on in an air traffic controller's tower
- wife and I spent three hours there earlier today, and it's a definite don't miss; we saw lots of folks with suitcases, who'd come over from Dulles during their several-hour layover; the museum even has 25-cent lockers for storage of your carryon while touring the museum; admission to the museum is FREE
