you say "a very broken political party?" Have to disagree. Not only are we raising funds on a scale that makes the GOP look like a bake sale, and not only are we bringing out Dems to vote in MULTIPLES of the Repelican turnout, but we have two generally superb candidates about whom to disagree.
Over 52 years of watching my party, I've seen lots of contested primary seasons; that a party of our size and scope, in a nation of more than 300 million folks might have two, three or four very good candidates jousting for the nomination is not a sign that we are broken.
In baseball or basketball terms, it's a sign of our "depth" and the strength of our "bench." Let's await the results of the general election this fall before deciding which of the national parties is "broken."
"Broken" could mean a party with a minority fundamentalist still campaigning after his party has virtually handed the nomination to McCain, a party where all the conservative radio talk show hosts are preaching mutiny, and a party where Pat Robertson concludes that the candidate of God is Rudolph Giuliani. Now, that's a party that may be "broken," or, at a minimum, slightly off-track.
