$5000 deductables are a reality to a lot of people.
Like me. We have our own health insurance. Not employed, and too young for Medicare. So, we buy our own. I pay a little over $200/ month, with that deductible. Last year, I bought an isulin pump, so satisfied my deductible for the first time. It's not a big deal. We figure we can afford the office visits and tests and stuff like that, but a major illness would wipe us out. Not a bad way to go, actually.
