Eggs and milk (which tend to fall into the category of necessities for
which demand is relatively inelastic, thus permitting grocers to pass on
price increases) are up about 32%; gasoline (another near-necessity) is
up 34%;
corn and wheat up more than 40%
That a slowing economy has disallowed vendors from passing on prices so
far is not a good sign; it's a bad sign.
