[Dems2008] Re: What's out of whack?

It's even worse than the nominal numbers show, suzi, as you probably
well know. My wife is a high school teacher; and I regularly see her
spend 20-25 hours of uncompensated time at home, plus another 10 or so
after-school doing teaching work.

Unlike the guy who punches buttons on a machine at a plant, and who
leaves his job at the worksite, too many teachers make enormous
uncompensated charitable contributions to students and those who depend
on education, while autoworkers bitch about the risks to their $28 an
hour (plus benefits) job running a machine that a well-trained monkey
could operate.

If another country can more efficiently build a car (as appears to be
clearly the case) then we should put former autoworkers to work (if they
want to work) repairing bridges and roads, building alternative energy
plants and facilities, and doing other tasks that we DO do more
efficiently than others.
