Many of them probably remember McCarthyism who labeled every liberal or progressive of the time a COMMUNIST.

Yippee!!!!!! the Repubs are walking out of the House of Reps because
of the contempt citations on WH has-beens who didn't show for those
committee investigations - forgot the topic, doesn't matter. I'm amazed
and gratified to find the Dems actually standing up for something, and
not wimping out. For years I have wondered what Bush has on the
Democratic congress people that keeps the Dems so silent in the face of
such blatant Orwellianism. Finally! AND they've worked up the gumption
to hold up that darn FISA spy-on-all-of-US bill. Whew!
