I would not vote for him, but it does irk me when people belittle

him.  As an officer he could have had special treatment when

he was a POW but he refused and stayed with his men. He was

no Bush.  I can disagree with someone politically and still

think highly of them as a person. I don't agree with the

Republican platform.  -----------------Nan

1. I won't argue with "hero" status for a former POW; having not been one I have to give the benefit of the doubt to one who survived five such years
2. But the material point is that having been a P.O.W. is no more a qualification to be president or commander-in-chief or the person in charge of our safety and security than would (say) having had an ownership interest in a major league baseball team
