Here goes:
The Hill 2012 strategy
There has been a conspiracy within the democratic party which resulted
in Obama winning the nomination.
Obama is a weaker candidate than hillary and therefore will loose to
McCain in November.
Instead of dropping out which will not help anyone because McCain
will win anyways it makes more sense to stay in and bloody up Obama
and if necessary anyone and everyone else. The messier it is the
better. It can only help.
Drag the nomination out as long as possible, discrediting anyone that
tries to shorten the process, then once Obama is on the brink of being
declared a winner
take a Podium and with lots of cameras give a tearful speech about how
the process was compromised, and all she wanted was a clean campaign
and a fair fight but there were those who thought better than letting
a girl be president. etc. Lots of tears, but not for herself , but for
a process that is broken, and most of all tears for all those she
wanted to help and all OUR work left unfinished. And for the good of
the party she has decided to step down, and will not run for the
Senate next term... think Dick nixon will not have this old girl to
kick around sort of thing.
Everyone feels crappy and Obamas victory is tainted making it MORE
difficult to win in Novemeber.
In November a bright and cheerful and Hopeful Hillary is devastated by
the loss, and as a talking head on CNN she just sadly shakes her head
and says I was afraid of this... thats why I fought so hard.
Hillary quits the Senate and runs for Governor of NY to serve her
constituency who she loves... she is tired of national politics and
feels certain elements of the party are punishing her.
Two years of McCain later a drum beat... a groundswell. A call... for
Hillary to run... she refuses... plays coy... then finally a little
girl looks up at her with big tears in her eyes and says Please Miss
Hillary, Please Run... we need you. So with a lump in her throat she
will seek the nomination.
She Runs on a Message of Unity and Action... as in the time for hope
is over, now is the time for action:
Lets put the pettiness behind us... we need change from the dialogue
of division of the past to a NEW beginning. Its a fresh start for me,
my party, and this nation.. etc etc
And the groundwork for Clinton 20212 is being laid as we speak.
Is this crazy. Of course. But... somethings to think about:
1. Political bedfellows, has there not been a twisted feeling about
this race lately. The pundits attacking Obama and helping Hillary are
the SAME people who destroyed Bill Clinton. Google the name who wrote
the article and look at their history.
2. If you are a Clinton supporter how much are you being drawn to
right wing radio and TV lately?
3. How much does the Hillary campaign sound oddly familiar... like you
have seen this style of politics before?
4. Hillary has burned bridges that could not possibly help her win the
nomination... if you didn't know better it looks like she is
committing political suicide.
5. Bill Clinton advocating a dirty and nasty race... think about THEM
apples.
6. Hillary adopted a populist message attacking the elite, calling
them some weird name (like glitteraria it never stuck because from her
its so bizzare)which is totally in opposition to her theme which was
based on experience and a steady hand at the wheel. At the same time
raising questions of race and poor white americans. This issue has
ressonance because of the history of populism and race. Its subtle but
it sticks in your mind. She has almost corned an old populist message
of Flag, Class, and Race which is UNLIKE her and does not help her
campaign, but it sure plays to some old themes that almost tore this
nation apart. Look at Hillary's latest ad and think about what you
see. Its really really scary. (hint: watch for the person that is not
Hillary that sticks out)or peruse her wesite. Its kinda unsettling.
7. Clinton endorsed McCain over Obama.
8. Clinton keeps hammering at the negatives despite the fact she is
not gaining any real ground. (see earlier comments about scorched earth)
9. She can't win, and hos no plan to win... she want to go to the
bloody end. You can hear it in their supporters voice. There is no
LOGICAL obvious reason to go on, yet we will go to the end until
Hillary says its time to quit.
10. She is not stupid or deluded. Hillary and her campaign are
terrible tacticians. Nothing they do works. But they are not idiots.
They DO have a strategy and they are VERY protective of Hillary. They
do not do ANYTHING half handed. Notice how Ferraro faded. Think that
wasn't planned? It was orchestrated down to the exit. Notice how Bill
Clinton has faded. They plan on the macro scale which is why they lost
this election, but in the big scheme they are tough. (any other
candidate but her would be gone by now and forgotten... instead even
her opponents in the party are waiting on her). So if she can't win
and is staying the course she has a goal in mind.
Could it be 2012?
Again this is not my theory. The backbone of this idea has been
floaring around for a few weeks now. That is the Hillary 2012 run from
the governors office. (It is damn ahrd to win as a senator and
precious few have done it). The populism segment is by and large mine
although I tossed it around a bit to see if it made sense.
At this point her rational for staying in the race is ahrd to fathom.
It is over, no matter how you approach it there is no viable route to
a Clinton victory. If you watch ehr campaign recently her stops are
getting shorter and there is a feeling of phoning it in. This does not
look like a campaign in the waining days of a nomination... remember
Bill and his broken voice? Instead they seem relaxed, and they don't
have a care in the world.
Who knows... maybe they don't.
