[Dems2008] Re: Loving v. Virginia (1967)

isabelle, I know you meant no ill will by that levity, but my gay and
lesbian friends remind me that whereas my wife and I can turn on and off
our devotion to our gay and lesbians friends and their thirst for equal
treatment, they cannot each day turn on or off being the persons they
are.

This is an area (in my view) where MLK's description of our all being
wrapped up in an "inescapable web of mutuality" applies; and so altho I
know all the supposedly harmless jokes (e.g., you should have the same
headaches we married heteros have), it's not so funny to those who would
like their monogamy and their dignity respected.
