[Dems2008] Re: one voice

To be honest with you, I am voting for Obama because I honestly believe that after this current administration we really need someone to at least TRY to bring not the country but the GOVERNMENT together to make some actual progress. As a politically active female I have respect for Senator Clinton and I believe she will make a great leader...just not right now.

Before this campaign season began I was certain that I would vote for Hillary if she ran, despite my efforts just after college to get Obama elected as a U.S. Senator from my home state.  However when I thought about the things that make Clinton such a great female leader: her strength, endurance and willingness to fight, I also began to think of what the next 4 years would look like.

My endorsement of Obama in this election is not an vote against Hillary (although I can recognize that they both have huge faults and I don't agree with either of them on many issues) but rather a hope that she will realize that we need a break from the divisiveness.  She doesn't not seek to divide but Republicans have such a strong distaste for all things Clinton that I shudder to think how this nation will look at the end of her first term.

I'm not naive enough to think the GOP will just let Obama be, but an Obama administration wouldn't be as threatening to them as Clinton. If we can get some progress...even for a few years, I truly believe that Clinton could be a great leader.  After this campaign though, I'm not certain it's possible.

I know this is a sorta answer to the question, but I'm sick of this polarization where if you like one you have to hate the other.  Let's not be like the GOP: let's recognize and acknowledge that both Obama and Clinton have their flaws but since there will likely be at least 2 Supreme court seats available we have stop tearing both of them apart b/c one of them has to beat John McCain.
