[Dems2008] Re: Republican crossovers in Ohio

A common denominator is that both men and women WORK, and thus men and women CAN be concerned about job security.  Both Barack and Hillary should have SPECIFICS -- bullet points, specifics -- on what they would do to generate job growth.

For example, define a program that will create alternative energy jobs, e.g., some combination of interest-free government loans and grants (maybe 80-20)  to companies that will build alternative energy facilities in the states, and pledge that they will remain at that site for a minimum of X years.

For example, provide that the corporate tax deduction for wages and salaries will be doubled for each full-time employee all of whose services are performed within the 50 U.S. states up to (say) an annual amount of $50,000 - that gives a corporatoin an additional incentive to keep a job here.

For example, increase the current expensing of capital expenditures that are currently only subject to multi-year depreciation, so long as teh investment is made within the geographic boundaries of the U.S.

In other words, GET SPECIFIC about how they will promote job creation here in the U.S.

AND BOTH OF THEM should have already expressed their outrage at the Air Force giving the refueling tanker planes contract to a French consortium.

These candidates should adopt something like Ford's Job One mantra, instead it should be something like "Jobs ARE Job One"
