[Dems2008] TX Dem Party deny Clinton request to delay caucus counting

The Clinton campaign attempted to re-write the Texas primary/caucus rules after the fact to set up a system to "verify" the votes already cast on March 4...

The Texas Democratic Party said NO.

"The overwhelming majority of problems reported in Texas do not affectthe legitimacy of delegates allocation," Texas Democratic PartyChairman Boyd Richie said in a statement Monday. "The Texas DemocraticParty will not do as suggested by one campaign and circumvent partyrules to set up an unnecessary, ad hoc 'verification' process thatcould effectively disqualify delegates selected at their precinctconventions after the fact."

Long story short... the Clinton campaign wanted to delay the news that Obama was getting more delegates from Texas than her... The Texas Democratic Party said, If you had a problem with caucus-goers the time to bring it up was at the caucus, not after the fact when the caucus-goer can't defend the challenge. It's not the Party's fault the the Clinton campaign wasn't organized enough to challenge them at the time.
