Once the Michigan and Florida primary question had been resolved the odds of Clinton winning the nomination became that much more slim... So Richardson decided to come out and help push the race towards Obama to get it over with quicker.

I think Bill Richardson is a very thoughtful and honorable man, I believe he sees that this nominating process is on its way to the convention which is not in the parties best interst and what would be in the best interest is to bring us all together party now and country later and he has determined, as many others have that Obama is the best chance to do that.
