RE: [Dems2008] Re: Ed's 8 more years of Bush fear

so your solution is to elect someone like McCain bush who will keep us in Iraq, possibly get us involved in war with iran, make permanent bush's tax cuts, increase our debts, higher oil prices, privatization of Health care, the no children left behind bush strategies.........etc Is this your strategy ...........to add a new set of obstacles to the Dem candidate of 2012? Hillary may not be your best choice but a much better choice than that alternative.........and sitting out the election is not the answer as that accomplishes the same thing if McCain wins

Ed, what you ignore, and in the process distort, are several things:

  • a McCain administration would most likely be followed by the Obama administration that should be entering office in January 2009
  • it is not a question of whether we vote for McCain when Hillary is the nominee;  the party has a FULL, CLEAR, AND STILL AVAILABLE OPTION to nominate the correct candidate.
  • So if five months from now that party knowingly and errantly still nominates Hillary, then it will not have been without full knowledge that she earned that nomination on a racial divide and/or by twisting super-delegates' arms, and that substantial numbers of  Democrats will sit out the fall election

Ferrarro was wrong in saying what she says but those who put out the gender card are wrong as well. If this is what is meant by uniting, My name is George McGovern.

    > Ed, the question this fall for me is this simple if Hillary is thenominee:HOW do we get to an Obama presidency at the earliest possible time?Answer: elect a one-term McCain, whose failings will not be blamed onthe Democrats.Alternative (which I find unacceptable): Elect Hillary, and have herfailings, and her botching Iraq, blamed on the Democrats. So my object is to get to the earliest possible most-effectiveDemocratic presidency; and electing McCain is a more direct route tothat than electing Billary. Will I vote for McCain? NO, I just can't do that. I will instead sitout the election, and encourage all Democrats to do the same. Thereare things more important than Hillry's ego; there's a country and afuture about which to be concerned.AND NEAR-TERM, there is the need to make clear this fall that our partywill NOT UNDER ANY CIR CUMSTANCES allow a candidate to advantage herselfby racial divisiveness.--- In Dems2008@yahoogroups.com, Edward Hochman eah01@ wrote:>> thank you. but the question is whether we want 8 more years of bush aswe tear apart our candidates apart in a manner that keeps us apart inthe final election.
