Re: [Dems2008] Re: McCain vs. Hillary : the longer view

Yes. but I believe that the issue of racism should be further brought out. If is likely to be dropped out for a while if Obama loses and that wouldn't do a thing. This issue should be brought up on all level of the political party structure incl. the DNC. TO push to it gives in the face of their meetings to point out that use of the race should not be a factor in chosing a presidential candidate. the last time we discussed race as a nation led to the civil rights act of 1964 and that passed due to the impetus of Kennedy's death, martin luthor king and then LBJ promoting it through channels in congress. we disagree on the idea of using the election as a matter of protest. The immediate issues I feel are too important but I feel that the issue of rascism must be kept alive and brought to greater attention publically as well as to the party for the reasons you give. We must change the direction of the nation at this time; the party should be made to
feel the reprecussion of our beliefs through us pushing it after a democrat is elected. We need to produce lasting change, not something that time will put under the table as I feel that your idea would produce.

Ed, you and I don't disagree on the facts. We part company on the
relative primacy given by each of us to certain ideals of behavior,
the extent to which racism may be employed to garner our party's
nomination, the extent to which dishonesty and lack of integrity are
relevant. That's fair. we disagree.

freer, more prosperous, better off in every way than 95% of the

one to gain either a nomination or an election in the general, that
we are not going to tolerate the sort of distortion, misbehavior,
divisiveness, and unprincipled behavior that we get from Bill and
Hillary.

to stoop to the level of just accepting any miscreant just because
she's female.
