this primary had a constitutional issue being voted on and the legislature put both on that day.  It is easy to say that the fl dems and the dnc but the dnc does not have a say in state legislatures and florida dems had no power.  Combined with a republican governor, this was an attempt to embarrass the dem party with its own rules.  and Karl Rove would have been proud.

The Dems didn't have to change the minds of the FL Republicans, they
could have opted to hold a provisional primary on 1/29 and do something
else with the help of the DNC. The FL dems and the DNC should have
dealt with this earlier, but following the rules is what adults are
expected to do and to change it after the rules were established and
agreed to is why we're in a mess now.
