Its apparent now that Obama is not stupid. He knew from the beginning
of his campaign that at some point he would have to deal with the race
issue, so I imagine that speech has been rolling around in his head for
a long time. He may have been caught off guard by the circumstances,
but he was certainly not blindsided by the issue. Carol
