I think they should post the true sermon back to people who only get the "sound bite,"  And you are right you reacted exactly how the news media wants us to.  Instead of going and finding the sermon and listening to the entire thing and not taking a "sound bite" as the be all end all of the person.

 

I am the type that if you show me something or tell me something, I may say or really, ok.  But then I go and research it and find the truth for myself.  I realize not many people do this, and that is what these sensationalist news people are counting on.
