this country:
1) protection for all against catastrophic illness: cancer, AIDs,
heart attack/stroke, and child birth are just the most-obvious.
2) EVERY person under the age of 18 should have adequate access to
quality DENTAL and VISION care, and all VACCINATIONS that are
necessary in this country; bad teeth and gums are a lifetime plague;
bad vision makes one unable to be educated or employed, inadequate
vaccinations renders one a threat not only to himself but to others
in some diseases.
And on a MEANS-TESTED basis, we should have FREE CLINICS (or low-cost
clinics) for all persons under the age of 21.
Yes, indeed, we should go FROM THERE to continue to add on until we
have reasonable and adequate healthcare for EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN
THIS COUNTRY, but these are the places where we should start.
My dissatisfaction with BOTH Clinton and Obama is that they are not
giving specifics (such as the foregoing) of their PRIORITIES if we
cannot (or will not) adopt so-called UNIVERSAL healthcare.
We have to crawl before we walk, walk before we run, and run before
we have marathon-quality healthcare for ALL.
