Man maybe she lived in the burbs ... but the city gez. except for the gold coast those who live there live in very shoddy housing and with lots of povery and rats. It is a very polarized city - each ethnic group lives in its own little hood and neither like the other. Some of the housing projects were bulldozed down when the land became valuable, and the people living in them were displaced-real caring govt. corruption is not the exception. Crime, yea, like every other big city. Lots of rats .... lots of concrete, except for the lake front green is the exception. I lived there and worked there for about 9 months .... good job but I escaped that concrete jungles as soon as I could. - like DC and Atlantic City, it puts on a good face to the tourists, but don't look behind the scenes. The middle class lives outside of Chicago. In the burbs. Chicago thinks its the center of the universe. I'm certainly glad it is not.
