may have reached the break even point, but the environmental impact of
growing all the crops is enormous. Biofuels are promising; But, they
are not scalable yet.
Solar and other alternatives like Hybrid cars, insulation and such
work well now. And, like it or not, nuclear produces no carbon. And,
breed reactor plants can recycle spent fuel rods. Nuclear waste is
less of an issue than green house gas. Obama is the only Democrat that
has acknowledged this. That may because Illinois gets quite a bit of
its energy from nuclear (I think about half).
I think we need an infrastructure program that focuses on alternative
fuels. Like the moonshot. I also think we should have a win fall tax
on the Oil companies to pay for part of it (Unless they want to fund
alternatives themselves). Why should Exxon make the biggest profit in
corporate history (off the backs of our soldiers) and not pay for a
means to prevent future energy wars?
