Times have certainly changed.
- I was raised in a small Midwestern village
- One hot August day in my youth, a gigantic tornado just about destroyed half the town
- when offered Federal aid, the town -- 3,000 pretty tough old self-reliant souls -- TURNED it down, out of pride
