[Dems2008] Unfortunate Populist Trend

Interesting that the campaigns are moving away from substance and
toward populism. Hillary has been negative on Obama and has bashed
Bush at every turn. From the debates, it looked like she was running
against Bush!

Obama, until now, has remained positive. But, his populist positions
on trade and international companies is disappointing. Companies that
do business over seas are already taxed by their host countries. We
are not giving them a break. And, due to the weak dollar, our current
account has greatly improved. This is due to increased exports and
jobs related to those exports. So, we are doing well with businesses now.

Also, Free trade and NAFTA (with the upgrades Hillary recommends) are
good for the economy. Free trade creates jobs and mitigates inflation
(lower prices) and make our companies more competitive. If you want to
see what protectionism does look to the crash of '29 and the
Holly-Smoot Tariff Act. After 1929 we had record inflation and
negative growth for years. Obama knows this, but I think he is trying
to win Texas and Ohio.

My vote is still for Obama, but I hope this is just rhetoric for Ohio
and Texas' sake.
