Re: [Dems2008] First liberal President in 40 years

Neither Obama or Hillary are that liberal and they certainly do not
border on socialism.  I also believe that which ever one wins, and I
hope it is Hillary, they will be our next president.
By the way I am a socialist and if I thought we had a chance I would
not be voting for a Democrat.-------------Nan

One of the reasons I'm pessimistic about the Democrat chances in the general election is that both Clinton and Obama are out-and-out liberals, bordering on socialists.  We haven't had a real liberal in the White House since LBJ, or one can argue since FDR, since LBJ was a hawk on the Vietnam War.  No, JFK wasn't a liberal and neither are Carter and Bill Clinton.  McCain is a centrist.  It will be Dukakis all over again (Willy Horton and the tank video), or even worse, George McGovern.  Why will it be any different this time around?
