That is a broad and probably untrue statement.  The NY Times didn't want to be scooped.  They have been debating whether or not to run this piece since December.  Rumors that another paper was getting ready to bring up this issue is the only reason the NY times let it run now.  They would rather be wrong than be last on a story.
 
And there is no reason to throw Hillary out of the race or the party.
