require an enormous amount of state resources. So you end up with two
choices.
1) Party pays for Florida and Michigan. Well apart from being
impossible, it is too expensive, even an attempt at something like the
simplest caucus would nearly bankrupt the DNC.
2) give states a choice pay for the primary or not be seated. That
means that Florida is out. And on top of that the Florida governor now
has the perfect stick to beat the Democratic party with. You are
holding our states population hostage so that they can be represented
in YOUR caucus. Michigan voters would be just as mad. Imagine if it
was YOU paying for a second Republican primary???? Its a disaster.
Then there is logistics. During a regular primary they split the
voters. You vote either or and get sorted as you do it. Prevents
people from voting in two primaries. In a small state thats easy if
they are on different dates. In this case its a nightmare. Plus the
idea of doing a small caucus is not doable. Caucuses are not something
you plan in a week. It is a long and involved process to plan and
execute under the best of circumstances. The idea of caucusing two of
the largest states in five months with NO preparation is silly. Even
if we decided to do it today, it would take two months even to BEGIN
the process, let alone choose sites and secure them. So these HAVE to
be big huge expensive primaries that are UNBELIEVABLY expensive.
This is NOT realistic. Its too expensive, it will piss voters off, and
in the end even the mention of holding Florida's delegation hostage is
stupid.
