Hmmm scary stuff... Nan you and I agree.
Your concept of history is ... well for lack of a better word
interesting. Dukakis was a weak candidate and McGovern in some ways
even weaker. But their weaknesses had nothing to do with being liberal
they had to do with poorly run campaigns. Gore ran as a centrist and
lost to a very weak republican. Why? Because he ran a shoddy campaign.
And without trying to make Nan mad, the same people involved in those
campaigns are the same people running Hillary's run. For a myriad of
reasons they don't run a good campaign. In 2002 the people that
masterminded the Clinton campaign "got it". By 2006 those guys and
gals were gone, replaced with arguably smarter but definitely less
politically savy staffers. For a Democrat to win, it has NOTHING to do
with position on issues. It has EVERYTHING to do with running a highly
professional, fiscally well managed, and positive oriented campaign.
The elect me because I am obviously better stuff does not wash.
